This is an artist's illustration of light hitting a CdSe nanocrystal and an electron being transferred to the Ni catalyst, which subsequently is used to produce hydrogen. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 8, 2012, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The paper, by Zhiji Han and colleagues at the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y., was titled, "Robust Photogeneration of H2 in Water Using Semiconductor Nanocrystals and a Nickel Catalyst."
