The migrant moth Autographa gamma (Silver Y) is one of the species of migratory insects that have evolved sophisticated flight behaviors to optimize its migratory route. This image relates to an article that appeared in the February 5, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. J.W. Chapman at Rothamsted Research in Hertfordshire, UK, and colleagues, was titled, "Flight Orientation Behaviors Promote Optimal Migration Trajectories in High-Flying Insects."
