Gathered Plants (IMAGE) University of Helsinki Caption Charred remains of prehistoric gathered plants: a rose hip, a nutshell fragment, a raspberry seed, a yellow water lily seed and a bird cherry seed. The rose hip, dating back to the Stone Age, was found in the Stone Age settlement of Glamilders, Saltvik on the Åland Islands. The nutshell fragment and raspberry seed are from the Stone Age settlement of Meskäärty, Virolahti in southeast Finland. The yellow water lily seed was found in the Stone Age settlement of Koskenniska, Rovaniemi in northern Finland. The birch cherry seed comes from the Iron Age settlement of Isokylä, Salo in southwest Finland. The scale of the remains varies.
