Experimental induction of out-of-body experiences. Through the goggles, the volunteer is viewing the back of his body, as seen from behind by the camera. He is also watching a plastic rod moving toward a location just below the camera while his real chest is simultaneously touched in the corresponding spot. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Aug. 24, 2007, issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Henrik Ehrsson of University College London in London, UK and Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, was titled "The Experimental Induction of Out-of-Body Experiences."
