NASA's Aqua satellite's Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) instrument captured Tropical Storm 05B on Dec. 10. 05B is the rounded area located to the southeast of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The area of purple in the middle of the storm indicates strong thunderstorms and high, cold thunderstorm cloud tops.
