Reef fish depend on the habitat created by live corals. If corals die, many reef organisms will soon perish, too. Here, a large branching coral colony is bleached during the 2017 bleaching event. If this colony dies, the hundreds of juvenile fish that use it as refuge will follow. Central GBR, March 2017.
