Molecular Cascades from a Cell Transition Disrupt Blood Vessels and Drive Kidney Fibrosis (1 of 1) (IMAGE)
Caption
Biopsies from kidneys of patients with kidney disease (top row) or from mice with two forms of induced kidney fibrosis (UUO and folic acid). Endothelial cells expressed more alpha-SMA (red) in diseased samples. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Jun. 9, 2020, issue of Science Signaling, published by AAAS. The paper, by S. Lovisa at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX; and colleagues was titled, "Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition compromises vascular integrity to induce Myc-mediated metabolic reprogramming in kidney fibrosis."
