Fractal Preference (IMAGE) University of Oregon Caption A fractal inspired carpet designed by Richard Taylor and his University of Oregon colleagues is underfoot during a reception in a Chicago building. A new study by UO psychologists working with Taylor have found that a visual preference for fractal patterns, seen in nature, has developed in children by the age of 3. Taylor's team has used fractal patterns in solar panels and window blinds to heighten people's aesthetic appreciation.
