Luke Gibson releasing a moonrat (Echinosorex gymnura) from a cage trap. The moonrat normally feeds on earthworms, insects, crabs and other invertebrates, and has very sharp teeth. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the 27 September, 2013, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Luke Gibson at National University of Singapore in Singapore, and colleagues was titled, "Near-Complete Extinction of Native Small Mammal Fauna 25 Years After Forest Fragmentation."
