In today's (May 11) visible satellite imagery from NASA's Terra satellite, the Moderate Imaging Spectroradiometer instrument shows that winds have shifted to a more southerly direction. The image was captured on May 11 at 12:15 UTC (8:15 a.m. EDT), and shows a dark brown ash plume streaming south from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull Volcano and over the waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. In the larger image, the volcano is represented by a red rectangle.
