NASA-NOAA's Suomi NPP satellite passed over Typhoon Bualoi and the VIIRS instrument aboard captured this image of the storm on Oct. 23, 2019 at 12:12 p.m. EDT (1612 UTC). Suomi NPP found that the strongest thunderstorms west of center had cloud top temperatures as cold as 190 Kelvin (minus 117 degrees Fahrenheit/minus 83.1 Celsius).
