This is a photo montage of a flowering inflorescence of Marcgravia evenia and an approaching Cuban nectar-feeding bat Monophyllus remani. This image relates to an article that appeared in the July 29, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Ralph Simon of University of Ulm in Ulm, Germany, and colleagues was titled, "Floral Acoustics: Conspicuous Echoes of a Dish-Shaped Leaf Attract Bat Pollinator."
