Artist's impression of an AM-CVn star system, where helium flows from one star to the other, piling up as a shell that may end up exploding as a .Ia supernova. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Nov. 5, 2009, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Dovi Poznanaski of the University of California, Berkeley in Berkeley, Calif., and colleagues, was titled, "An Unusually Fast-Evolving Supernova."
