Treating mice with eudesmin (bottom row) protected them from diabetic kidney lesions by activating the Yin Yang 1 protein. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Sept. 18, 2019, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by P. Gao at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in Shanghai, China; and colleagues was titled, "Yin Yang 1 protein ameliorates diabetic nephropathy pathology through transcriptional repression of TGFβ1."
