The process from nanoparticles to micron-sized self-assembled supraballs to a centimeter-sized painted flower. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Sept. 15, 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by M. Xiao at The University of Akron in Akron, OH, and colleagues was titled, 'Bioinspired bright noniridescent photonic melanin supraballs.'
