Desiccated lake bed from the Turfan Basin of far western China. This lake has dried up completely within the past decade or so as the planet has warmed and precipitation has shifted away from this region. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the May 31 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by A.E. Putnam at University of Maine in Orono, ME, and colleagues was titled, "Human-induced changes in the distribution of rainfall."
