Letter from three Japanese officials, including Ihei Tomishima (IMAGE)
Caption
During this period, letters were written on a half-sheet of paper folded horizontally and written from right to left. When the writer reached the left edge, they continued writing on the reverse side which is why the bottom half of the letter is upside down. The signatures of the three senders are in the middle of the lower half (the end) of the letter.
