The trinitite samples analyzed in the study were collected at three different distances from ground zero of the Trinity nuclear test site in New Mexico. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Feb. 8, 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by J.M.D. Day at University of California, San Diego in La Jolla, Calif., and colleagues was titled, 'Evaporative fractionation of zinc during the first nuclear detonation.'
