A Dermal Gel that Inhibits Neurotoxicity from Systematic Pesticide Exposure to the Skin (1 of 2) (IMAGE)

Pesticides are designed to kill pests. While spraying, due to lack protective technologies, farmers get exposed to the same pesticides, which lead to myriad of neurological disorders and mortality. A topical gel has been developed that can deactivate pesticides on the skin, thus prevents pesticide-induced toxicity and mortality. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 17th, 2018, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by K. Thorat at Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem) in Bangalore, India, and colleagues was titled, "Prevention of pesticide-induced neuronal dysfunction and mortality with nucleophilic poly-Oxime topical gel."
