The top 10 new species announced May 23, 2011, include a six-foot long fruit-eating lizard, pollinating cockroach, Titanic-eating bacterium, mushroom that fruits underwater, bioluminescent fungi, Darwin's Bark Spider, duiker, jumping cockroach, T. rex leech and pancake batfish. The top 10 new species list is issued annually by the International Institute for Species Exploration at Arizona State University and an international committee of taxonomists -- scientists responsible for species exploration and classification.
