Incomplete fish hook from Jerimalai shelter dated to ~11,000 cal BP. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 25, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by S. O’Connor of Australian National University in Canberra, ACT, Australia, and colleagues, was titled, “Pelagic Fishing at 42,000 Years Before the Present and the Maritime Skills of Modern Humans.”
