Somersaulting Simulation for Jumping Bots (IMAGE) Association for Computing Machinery Caption A simulation (top row) and real-world experiment (bottom row) match for the same jumping mechanism designed to flip over a wall and land right side up on the other side. This simulation was generated by a new method that accurately predicts the real-world behavior of such mechanisms undergoing large-deformations, high-speed dynamics, frictional contact and impact. It does so at speeds fast enough to now be used in automated design algorithms that must rapidly, yet accurately, predict whether a design will work or fail.
