Youth Walking in the Dark (IMAGE) West Virginia University Caption According to a new study out of WVU, youths on Medicaid are more likely to die by suicide than their non-Medicaid counterparts if they are between the ages of 10 and 14, or if they are girls and young women. The study also found that Medicaid recipients between the ages of 10 and 18 are more likely to complete suicide by hanging. These findings may inform suicide-prevention strategies targeted at Medicaid enrollees and recipients.
