The laser coating removal robot (LCR), developed by Southwest Research Institute and XYREC, uses intelligent process monitoring to precisely and safely remove paint and other coatings from full-body aircraft. The system, which won an R&D 100 Award as one of the most significant innovations of the year, is more efficient than traditional coating removal processes.
