Bruker's Biotyper enables molecular identification and taxonomical classification of bacteria, yeasts and fungi reliably and quickly using proteomic fingerprinting by high-throughput MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. It covers more than 4,600 microbial isolates, including gram-negative bacteria, gram-positive bacteria, yeasts, multi-cellular fungi and mycobacteria. Microbial identification with the MALDI Biotyper allows for instantaneous identification of colonies from a plate. The system requires minimal sample preparation and has low consumables cost. The MALDI Biotyper is currently available in the US for research use only.
