Ultrafast Orbital Tomography (VIDEO)
Caption
PTCDA molecules on a copper oxide surface are used as a sample. A molecular electron is excited by a laser pulse into another orbital, changing its spatial distribution. The electron in the excited orbital has a finite lifetime, which can be measured by ultrafast orbital tomography.
