The Hematopoietic System (IMAGE)
Caption
Hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow (left) give rise to a variety of blood cell types. This includes white blood cells such as T cells and dendritic cells responsible for our immune defense (upper right panel) or red blood cells responsible for oxygen transport (lower right panel). The epigenetic regulator MOF pushes hematopoietic stem cells to mature into the disc-shaped red blood cells.
