Spinning a Yarn: Twisting Motion Makes Artificial Muscles (4 of 12) (VIDEO)
Caption
High-speed torsional actuation produced by electrothermal actuation of a half-wax-filled Fermat carbon nanotube yarn. This video relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 16, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Márcio D. Lima at the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson,Texas, and colleagues was titled, "Electrically, Chemically, and Photonically Powered Torsional and Tensile Actuation of Hybrid Carbon Nanotube Yarn Muscles."
