A UV treatment process functionalizes the surface of the transparent indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode with a layer of chlorine one atom thick. This image relates to an article that appeared in the April 14, 2011, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Michael Helander at University of Toronto in Canada was titled, "Chlorinated Indium Tin Oxide Electrodes with High Work Function for Organic Device Compatibility."
