Video of a plastic iceberg undergoing capsize in our laboratory wave tank at Emory University. The iceberg is 20.3 cm in height and 4.5 cm in width. The black dots on the iceberg allow computerized tracking of the position. The video has been slowed down by 5x from real time. The rigid wall to the right measures the hydrodynamic pressure in the water, which plays a major role in the source of glacial earthquakes generated by iceberg capsize. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the June 26, 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by T. Murray at Swansea University in Swansea, UK, and colleagues was titled, "Reverse glacier motion during iceberg calving and the cause of glacial earthquakes."
