Discovery of How Coral Reefs Adapt to Global Warming Could Aid Reef Restoration (1 of 2) (IMAGE)
Caption
After 48 hours, embryos of mountainous star corals raised under normal temperatures resembled hollow balls of cells. In contrast, at the same developmental point, larvae from the same coral raised under temperatures 1-2 degrees centigrade higher showed a high proportion (up to 50 percent) of malformed embryos in Florida.
