The range of the Black Solitaire, only found in Colombia and Ecuador, has been reduced by deforestation in the Andes. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 9, 2016 issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by N. Ocampo-Peñuela at Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences, Duke University in Durham, NC, and colleagues was titled, "Incorporating explicit geospatial data shows more species at risk of extinction than the current Red List."
