Water and sediment regulation at Xiaolangdi Reservoir may cause the bed material to coarsen and lead to the significant reduction of sediment load and increment of resistance. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 12 May 2017, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by H. Ma at Rice University in Houston, Texas, and colleagues was titled, "The exceptional sediment load of fine-grained dispersal systems: Example of the Yellow River, China."
