Some proposed interactions to explain how glycoconjugate vaccines activate an immune response. FDC refers to follicular dendritic cells, which present the conjugate to B cells and T cells. The last two proposals feature a high concentration of antibodies (pink structures). This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Sep. 5, 2018, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by R. Rappuoli at GlaxoSmithKline in Siena, Italy; and colleagues was titled, " Glycoconjugate vaccines: Principles and mechanisms."
