Fires Across Thailand and Cambodia

This visible-light image shows hundreds of fires burning across Thailand and Cambodia. Most of the fires burn in grass or cropland, which appears as a tan color in this image. This visible-light image was taken from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument aboard NASA-NOAA's Suomi NPP satellite on Feb. 26, 2016. The VIIRS image showed the heat signatures from fires in red. VIIRS collects visible and infrared imagery and global observations of land, atmosphere, cryosphere and oceans.
