A pink bollworm caterpillar emerges after feeding inside a cotton boll. Modified bacterial toxins kill caterpillars that have evolved resistance to standard toxins. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Nov. 1, 2007 issue Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr M. Soberón and colleagues at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Morelos, Mexico, was titled "Engineering Modified Bt Toxins to Counter Insect Resistance."
