Rotary Actuator (VIDEO) Rutgers University This video is under embargo. Please login to access this video. Caption Relying on the simple motion of bending, soft pneumatic actuators have manipulated fragile objects with pressurized fingers and have crawled/undulated by changing their gaits. However, rotation plays a significant role in the design of simple machines, as conventional robots often do not depend on bending actuators but employ joints and torque-providing motors. Recent advances in pneumatic, elastomeric actuators are not capable of delivering torque through pure rotation.
