Electron Spin in a Quantum Sensor (IMAGE) University of Basel Caption An individual electron spin in a quantum sensor reacts to the magnetic field of a thin film of bismuth ferrite. The change in spin is detected via a light signal and used to create an image of the magnetic field on the nanometer scale. The analysis shows that bismuth ferrite exhibits spiral magnetic ordering.
