Collapsed Alveoli Causes Poor Blood Oxygenation, Respiratory Distress

Spirrow Therapeutics, a Purdue University-related startup, is developing a novel treatment for a life-threatening lung condition known as acute respiratory distress syndrome, or ARDS. The treatment uses a nanoparticle to mimic the behavior of a natural surfactant in the lungs to work within the lungs' processes for inflation and oxygenation.
