UAB pulmonologist Steve Rowe tests an intranasal OCT device on a control subject. The device, which uses a laser to paint the interior of the nasal passages and airway, is designed to assist physicians in diagnosing pulmonary disease such as cystic fibrosis. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Aug. 7, 2019, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by H.M. Leung at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA; and colleagues was titled, "Intranasal micro-optical coherence tomography imaging for cystic fibrosis studies."
