This is an architectural representation of the virion trunk, rendered in 3-D animation. 4 turns of M, part of the membrane bilayer, incomplete subunits, and a 30° wedge have been computationally removed. The virion trunk was first rotated around its helical axis and then around the horizontal axis to show the interior. This video relates to an article that appeared in the February 5, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. P. Ge at University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, Calif., and colleagues, was titled, "Cryo-EM Model of the Bullet-Shaped Vesicular Stomatitis Virus."
