Noted physicist Walter F. Henning (center) of Argonne National Laboratory received a Cross of Merit of the First Class of the Federal Republic of Germany from German President Horst Köhler at a ceremony in Berlin on Oct. 4. Henning is pictured with Köhler and his wife, Eva Luise, at the ceremony. The Cross of Merit, the highest tribute Germany can pay to individuals for service to the nation, was presented to Henning in recognition of his contributions to physics research in that country.
