IRC+10216 is a nearby carbon star within our own galaxy. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Jan. 16, 2009 issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. G.C. Sloan and colleagues, was titled, "Dust Formation in a Galaxy with Primitive Abundances."
