Renato Aguilera, Ph.D., a professor of biological sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso, holds up a vial of pyronaridine, an anti-malarial drug that he recently patented for use in cancer treatments. As a longtime cancer researcher, Aguilera realized that the molecular structure of pyronaridine could be useful in fighting cancer cells.
