(a) Crop breeding driven by the next generation of AI and big data technologies will be revolutionized in four areas: (i) high-throughput phenotype acquisition and analysis; (ii) biological big data-driven crop functional genomics research; (iii) AI-based breeding combination and selection; (iv) personalized intelligent design breeding. (b) In the future, the deep integration of biotechnology and information technology (BT + IT) will advance intelligent-driven crop breeding engineering with two key characteristics: (i) intelligent hybrid breeding based on big data and breeding models; (ii) intelligent biological breeding utilizing AI and synthetic evolution technologies.
