Field crew at Emerald Bay stand (IMAGE)
Caption
In 2011, UC Davis researchers trained visiting forest restoration specialists from Lebanon in measuring surface fuels, tree regeneration, and forest structure at the Emerald Bay stand. Note the high levels of surface fuels. Fire risk is high in the stand, due to the removal of frequent low severity burning as an ecological process.
