Saliency Map Comparing MRI Scans of Cognitively Normal Adults in their 50s and in their 70s (IMAGE)
Caption
A saliency map produced by the new AI model displays the average difference in saliency between cognitively normal participants in their 50s and those in their 70s. Saliency highlights brain regions deemed by the deep neural network to be of greatest importance in estimating the pace of brain aging. Regions displayed in red reflect the pace of brain aging better in people who are in their 70s, while regions in blue better reflect brain aging speed in people in their 50s.
