Environmental particle pollution exposure contributes to chronic lung disease development (IMAGE)
Caption
In the lungs of COPD patients, SPP1 is significantly upregulated. Experimentally, carbonaceous particles, which are related to environmental particle pollution, can cause the accumulation of SPP1+ macrophages in the lung, and the induction of SPP1 is correlated with the development of emphysema, and serves as a protective target for COPD.
