Hepatitis B Virus (IMAGE)

Atomic force microscopy images show hepatitis B DNA in its natural state (left) and a zoomed-in look at how it wraps around human histones during an infection (right). The research team determined that in order for a critical protein to get made, the hepatitis B virus’s DNA needs to get organized into these DNA-histone complexes. Preventing this from happening could be a new way of treating the deadly disease, the research suggests.
