Schematic representation of a short DNA segment showing the nuclear spin axes of selected nitrogen atoms. (IMAGE)
Caption
Red arrows indicate the nuclear spin axes at the positions of the N3 nitrogen atoms on the guanine (G) bases. Due to the helical structure of DNA, there is an angular deviation in the orientation of adjacent bases, resulting in a corresponding angular deviation in the axes.
